Francesco Scanzi - Soncino, XVI century

1530 c. - The Virgin and Child Enthroned

The work is a triptych painted on the back wall, above the altar of the Chapel said of the Angels, with a central Madonna and Child Enthroned and in the two side panels the archangels Michael and Gabriel. At the foot of the Madonna, in the central panel, two young angel musicians seated playing a harp portative and a bass viol.

The harp, with the arching column, is outlined in summary form and is not particularly interesting organological.

The bass viol, with flat pegbox, has the four beaks in the middle part of the body, but with the inner convex rather than concave, and presents in the chest, instead of the holes resonance at effe or C, two rosettes with decoration perforated, evident in that left.
