Antonio Campi (Cremona 1524 - 1587)

1560/1565 - Apollo Citharoedus

God is part of the scene with Apollo and Diana, and in the background, "the torment of Marsyas", depicted in the northeast corner of the frieze painted on the walls of the "grotesque room" on the first floor of the Pallavicino-Barbò palace.

The cithara has seven central singing strings and two lateral bourdon; has arms ending with two curly and on the soundboard a perforated rosette similar to that of the painting lute in "trophy with angel lutenist" in theright lesena of the second right pillar of St. Sigismund church in Cremona.
