1507 - St. Anthony Abbot and St. John the Baptist

The two saints are standing at a large Renaissance arch flanked by two columns to at candlestick decorated to bas-reliefs with musical instruments

The stringed instrument of Spanish origin is shown here isolated, overlaid with the bow to play it. It has the sound box in the shape of 8 large, to washer mentioned on the soundboard the sound hole, inlay decorations, the strings, the neck with the keyboard and pegbox, overturned as that of lute but at sickle and perhaps terminating in the head of an animal. The painting proves that the instrument was also known in Cremona.
