1500-1600 - Viola player David

The one held by the biblical king on his lap is an unusual tapered bowed instrument, with four strings tied at the bottom to a trilobe formed by a smooth pine cone flanked by two coils. It has a pierced rosette in the center of the soundboard and the peg end with a caulicolo.
