1586/88 - Church of Beata Vergine Incoronata in Sabbioneta

The church, which stands out in the urban context of Sabbion for its octagonal size, was built between 1586 and 1588 and was to serve as a palatine chapel and pantheon for the dynasty and therefore was entrusted to the care of the Servite friars, present in Sabbioneta since 1448. Consstructed nn the site of two pre-existing buildings of worship, the oldest dedicated to S. Biagio, the most recent dedicated to S. Nicola, whose liturgical memory coincided with the Duke's birthday on 6 December. The tomb-mausoleum of Duke Vespasiano is preserved intact. The balustrades of the organ and of one 'cantoria' painted in the mid-1700s represent some musical instruments.
