Rinaldi, Alessandro - Cremona, 1837 - Milano 1897

1886 - Stradivarius

For the realization of the painting, a replica of a earlier lost original formerly in the collection Wonwiller, to outline the figure of Stradivari, the author was inspired by the witness of Turin violinist Gaetano Pugnani, mentioned by Fétis in his book of 1856. The workshop, however - like musical instruments and their accessories (Neapolitan mandolins Lombard, romantic guitar, harp positive, etc.) has had all nineteenth-century models. Moreover, out of the window placed under the left, you see the facade of the church of St. Dominic placed to the right of the shop, while he was in front.
