The belly is of spruce, with an open and well-defined grain.The back is one-piece of maple, The back is one-piece of maple, with a painting of the armorial bearings of Henry IV of France and Navaree. The ribs are of wood similar to the back, with fragments of the gilt letters of the motto: DVO PROTEGI TVNVS. The scroll is of faint narrow curl. The varnish is red-brown.
