1631 - Violin

The top is of spruce of fine to medium grain towards the flanks, made by Ferdinando Gagliano in 1750 circa. The back is two-piece of maple of narrow curl descending to the left. The ribs are of wood similar to back. The scroll of maple has been attributed to the school of Brescia and dated 1600 circa. The varnish is reddish brown on a light golden base.
