  • Commisioned a Stradivarius from a doctor of Lyon, after the death of these, between 1770 and 1780, the cello was taken to Paris where it was purchased by cellist Jean-Louis Duport, who at his death (1819) was inherited by his son, principal cellist of the orchestra of Lyon, who later changed profession, and at a time of economic difficulty he sold the instrument to the cellist Auguste Franchomme, who bought him advised by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume.
