1742 - Violin "Alard"

Soundboard: two pieces of spruce not identical, with the inscription inside: "Acheté a Milan en 1853" and the mark of Vuillaume. Back of one piece of curly maple with broad discontinous curl descending to the right. Ribs and scroll of wood similar to that of the back. Neck original modernized by Vuillaume. Varnish from yellow to yellow-brown.

  • The violin was the preferred instrument of the violinist Jean-Delphin Alard, a professor at the CNSM of Paris from 1843 to 1875.
