1660/70 - Cello

Carved from a bass viola da braccio, presents in all its parts, the signs of reduction of the instrument larger and has a curvature rather flat. Soundboard of two pieces of spruce with additions at the ends of the lower lobes. Fractures can be seen at the lower edge (three on the left and two to the right of the tailpiece) and reconstructions of parts of the board (in the left upper lobe, one in the lower right beack and the lower edge of the right C). Back of two pieces of curly maple cut in the quarter; nose rebuilt and additions to the edges. In proximity to the central junction the UV light evidence of the raspature. Ribs of curly maple similar to that of the back, showing increases in the CC and in the lower lobes. Numerous fractures and wood-boring insect attacks repaired. In some places, after repairs, marbling were painted. The pagbox has been redone by inserting the original scroll, which seems the same wood of the back and half has more laps than normal. Yellow-brown varnish.
